The Cognitive Theory Of Multimedia Learning
The Cognitive Theory Of Multimedia Learning attempts to explain the processes that occur in students' minds during meaningful learning from multimedia education. It was designed by Richard E. Mayer. This theory claims that images and words tend to enable learning as long as they are designed in a meaningful way for learners to select, organize and integrate. The layout of the images is critical in recalling information.Because not all images are efficient at the same time, some of them are more efficient than others.
Multimedia learning takes place in three stages. These are selecting, organizing and integrating. The learner engages in three stages and in the end what she has learned goes into her long-term memory
